Oatmeal Bar, Cake, Crumble, Crisp & Pie Recipes
We're from Iowa, so knowing how to make a mean pan of bars or a nice snack cake is a prerequisite to any social function. We don't know how this trend got started... why does every church gathering necessitate a pan of bars or the ubiquitous Jello Cake? But we do know that having to bake so many pans of bars forced us to horde every oatmeal bar & cake recipe we came across, so we have a wealth of them to share.
Perhaps the best thing about making bars, crisp or crumble, pies and sheet or snack cakes is that they are extraordinarily simple to make! No dropping balls of dough, no chilling or rolling, no gingerly removing them from a baking sheet while they're hot and fragile. Easy cleanup, easy storage, and hey- you don't have to spend all day in the kitchen because you can only make 12 cookies at a time! Bars are easy. Bars are
